Description

JaJaMaru sets out to rescue Princess Sakura from the evil Namazu Dayuu and his army of supernatural creatures. Each floor of the enemy fortress is packed with yokai inspired by Japanese folklore, forcing the small ninja to rely on quick movement and an endless supply of shuriken.

Developed and published by Jaleco for the Japanese Famicom, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun is a single-screen action platformer filled with destructible blocks, hidden bonuses and quirky power-ups. Breaking ceilings can reveal useful items, while collecting the right combination summons the enormous frog Gamapa-kun, turning JaJaMaru temporarily into an unstoppable force.

• Throw shuriken at ghosts and monsters while jumping between platforms across compact stages. Enemy patterns become more aggressive as the adventure continues.
• Break blocks to uncover coins, useful power-ups and occasional dangerous surprises. Collecting certain items increases speed or grants temporary advantages.
• Gather the required special power-ups to summon Gamapa-kun, a giant frog capable of devouring enemies. This memorable transformation became one of the series’ signature features.
