Description
Friendly ghost Q-Taro travels through familiar neighbourhoods while being pursued by his greatest weakness: aggressive dogs. His supernatural ability to fly provides an escape route, but limited energy and an endless stream of hazards ensure that even a simple journey becomes a chaotic adventure.
Published by Bandai for the Japanese Famicom, Obake no Q Tarou: Wanwan Panic was developed by TOSE and based on the popular manga and anime character. The side-scrolling action combines walking and flying with food collection and enemy avoidance. A heavily altered version later appeared internationally as Chubby Cherub.
- Switch between walking and flying to avoid dogs, obstacles and other hazards. Flight is extremely useful but cannot be maintained without watching Q-Taro’s energy.
- Collect food and useful items scattered throughout each stage to maintain strength and improve the score. Careful exploration becomes important during longer sections.
- Characters and humorous situations draw directly from the classic Obake no Q-Taro series. The colourful licensed presentation gives this Japan-only version a personality quite different from its Western adaptation.
