Description

A futuristic commander enters hostile territory aboard the powerful Genesis craft, facing waves of soldiers, tanks and advanced enemy machines. Rather than destroying every opponent, the commander can capture selected units and turn them into allies for the ongoing battle.

Field Combat for NES adapts Jaleco’s arcade concept with vertically scrolling action and a distinctive recruitment mechanic. The Genesis can shoot enemies directly or use a special beam to capture certain units, which can later be deployed as friendly support. This blend of shooter mechanics and battlefield management gives the game an unusual strategic character.

• Fire directly at enemy troops and vehicles while advancing across vertically scrolling battlefields. Different opponents require careful positioning to avoid incoming attacks.
• Use the capture beam to recruit selected enemy units instead of destroying them. Captured forces can later be deployed to support the offensive.
• Build a mixed army of useful units as each stage progresses. Combining personal firepower with recruited support separates Field Combat from conventional shooters.
