Description
Mario takes control of a puzzle board where familiar Mushroom Kingdom enemies fall into four columns. Matching identical creatures removes them, while placing enemies between the top and bottom halves of Yoshi eggs creates larger hatchlings and bigger scoring opportunities.
Published by Nintendo for the Famicom and NES, Yoshi no Tamago is known internationally as Yoshi or Mario & Yoshi. Rather than moving falling pieces directly, players rotate stacks at the bottom of the screen to organize incoming enemies. The unusual mechanic gives the puzzle game a rhythm quite different from Tetris or Dr. Mario.
- Rotate the four stacks beneath falling enemies to create matching pairs. Fast organization is essential when the screen begins filling with pieces.
- Trap enemies between the two halves of a Yoshi egg to hatch progressively larger Yoshis. More enemies inside the egg produce greater rewards.
- Challenge increasingly fast single-player rounds or compete against another player. Familiar Mario characters and simple controls give the game strong nostalgic charm.
