Description
Miku Hinasaki enters the abandoned Himuro Mansion while searching for her missing brother Mafuyu. Inside, she discovers evidence of a brutal ritual, encounters tormented spirits and learns that her unusual connection to the supernatural may be the only hope of escaping the mansion alive.
Released in Japan as Zero for PlayStation 2, the first game established the series’ distinctive blend of survival horror and spirit photography. Instead of conventional weapons, Miku relies on the antique Camera Obscura to reveal and repel ghosts. Claustrophobic rooms, cryptic documents and Japanese occult themes create a slow-burning atmosphere that remains deeply unsettling.
- The Camera Obscura serves as both a weapon and an investigative tool. Photographing spirits at the right moment inflicts greater damage and earns points for useful upgrades.
- Himuro Mansion is filled with locked rooms, ritual chambers and hidden clues. Careful exploration reveals the tragic events responsible for the supernatural curse.
- Traditional Japanese horror imagery and restrained sound design create constant tension. The game’s unsettling atmosphere helped establish Zero as a cult survival horror series.
