Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles receive a mysterious challenge from Dr. Eggman and set out to stop his latest scheme. Their adventure connects with the stories of Team Dark, Team Rose, and Team Chaotix, each pursuing separate goals before confronting a shared danger.

Sonic Heroes brings team-based platforming to PlayStation 2 with twelve playable characters divided into four groups. Fast stages, branching paths, character switching, and colorful environments create a distinctive entry in the long-running Sonic series.

• Switch instantly between speed, flight, and power formations to overcome different obstacles. Each formation changes movement, attacks, and the routes available through a level.
• Play four connected campaigns featuring Sonic’s team and several returning characters. Different difficulty levels and objectives give each team its own style.
• Race through large stages filled with loops, rails, enemies, and collectible items. Boss battles and special stages add variety between the main action levels.
