Description
King Suren’s army has been defeated by the evil King Ogreth, with loyal soldiers transformed into trees and rocks throughout the occupied kingdom. Suren must advance toward the enemy castle, restore his warriors and rebuild a fighting force strong enough to confront Ogreth and reclaim the land.
Bokosuka Wars for the Famicom blends real-time movement, role-playing progression and large-scale strategy in a highly unusual early design. Freed soldiers join Suren’s formation and can grow stronger through successful battles, but losing the king ends the campaign immediately. Its combination of army management and direct movement helped make it an important curiosity in Japanese strategy-game history.
- Free knights and soldiers hidden inside objects scattered across the battlefield. A larger army greatly improves the chances of surviving the march toward King Ogreth’s castle.
- Move the entire force in real time while different unit types collide with enemy troops. Individual soldiers can gain experience and become stronger after successful encounters.
- King Suren must remain alive throughout the entire campaign. Protecting the leader while maintaining a useful formation creates a distinctive strategic challenge.
