Description
The advanced Solvalou fighter launches against the invading Xevious forces, travelling above forests, ruins and enemy installations packed with hostile machines. Threats appear both in the air and on the ground, demanding constant attention to two different layers of combat.
Published by Namco for the Japanese Famicom, Xevious adapts the hugely influential arcade shooter with separate weapons for airborne and surface targets. The zapper destroys flying enemies while bombs strike marked ground installations. Hidden targets, recognizable enemy designs and repeating landscapes create a shooter that became a major phenomenon in Japan.
- Use the forward-firing zapper against airborne enemies while targeting ground forces with bombs. Managing both attack systems at once defines the game’s challenge.
- Search for hidden Sol Citadels and other secret scoring opportunities beneath the landscape. Experienced players are rewarded for memorizing unusual clues.
- Battle iconic enemies including the enormous Andor Genesis mothership. Xevious helped establish many conventions later used by vertical scrolling shooters.
